There are many nerves that run down into the legs with the biggest one called the sciatic nerve, running from the lower spine down the back of each leg. When there is pressure or irritation on this nerve, it is very painful. You will feel shooting pain down the back of the leg and into the foot. The amount of pain varies for everyone. Some feel a debilitating amount of pain while others only feel a mild irritation that only shows up occasionally. Sciatica can be misdiagnosed, so if you have other pain down your leg but not into your foot, it still can be a pinched nerve but not the sciatic nerve. Get properly diagnosed since treatment protocols change based on the condition, and the term ‘sciatica’ is often used incorrectly.

How Chiropractic Can Help:
First, we need to determine if what you’re suffering from is a chiropractic case. Is your condition something we can help you with or not? We will analyze the spine by exam and X-ray to look for bones out of normal position which may be causing pressure on the nerves (also known as subluxation). When subluxations get bad enough, you will experience pain. Our job is to detect and correct the subluxations by adjusting the spine to relieve the pressure on the nerve.
